If you have driven down St. Andrews road or Lake Murray Blvd lately you will have noticed an increase in the large display signs that change ads frequently, they seem to resemble very large tv screens. While this new method of advertising is slick and gives us (consumers) food for thought while we are driving it seems as though the town leaders of Irmo want to have some measure of control on how bright these signs can be.
Upon reading and reflection of this article, dated March 19th, 2009 in The State Newspaper on-line (view entire article here) it seems that some measure of control would probably be a good thing. I have found myself occasionally looking up to what ad will come up next rather than paying attention to the task at hand, driving! While the town leaders try to decide how to handle the brightness issue we just need to remember to buckle up and pay attention to the roads.
