Haley unveils Wal-Mart’s $400M planned investment

The retail giant plans to create 4,000 new jobs and build, expand and relocate stores across the state. A Wal-Mart spokesman said no government incentives will be involved. The announcement comes after a vote to reject a special tax provision for Amazon.

Army officer to direct S.C. workforce department

Maj. Gen. Abraham J. Turner, an S.C. native and graduate of S.C. State University, has been appointed by Gov. Nikki Haley to lead the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce. He will replace John Finan, who has been serving as interim director.

More than 250,000 pounds of waste was collected Saturday to be recycled and reused. S.C. eCycles Day was held at designated drop-off sites across the state.

Continental Tires signs agreement with TravelCenters

The Fort Mill-based tire manufacturer announced today that it has signed a multiyear agreement to sell commercial tires at TravelCenters of America and Petro Stopping Center sites throughout the United States and Canada.

Edens & Avant names senior VP for investments

Ed Senenman will be located in Edens & Avant’s New York City office. The company is expanding its presence in the New York metro area as part of its focus on investments in major East Coast markets.

Businesses now can file UCC documents online

A new service offered by the S.C. Secretary of State’s Office allows businesses to file, search and retrieve Uniform Commercial Code documents online. The Web-based application allows users to file, amend, terminate, search and retrieve UCC financing statements.
