The retail giant plans to create 4,000 new jobs and build, expand and relocate stores across the state. A Wal-Mart spokesman said no government incentives will be involved. The announcement comes after a vote to reject a special tax provision for Amazon.
Maj. Gen. Abraham J. Turner, an S.C. native and graduate of S.C. State University, has been appointed by Gov. Nikki Haley to lead the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce. He will replace John Finan, who has been serving as interim director.
