Oyster Festival Columbia SC

This weekend, TheHistoric Columbia Foundation and Liquid Assets Inc hosted the fourteenth annual Oyster Festival at the Robert Mills house on Blanding Street. The oyster festival is Columbia's largest outdoor oyster roast It was a beautful day for it! There were 5,000 pounds of steamed and fried oysters prepared for the event, along with: fried shrimp, fried fish and delicious onion rings and "chips" (fries), BBQ and much much more!  

Children were welcome at this event, inflatable amusement rides for a nominal fee. Guests brought blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy the bands on the two different stages they had set up. The Blue Dogs, one of Charleston's favorites, was there for the third year in a row. Other performances included Woodwork Roadshow (acoustic),

Tom Hall and the Plowboys (folk/bluegrass), The Blue Iguana (bluegrass), Casual Kings (rock quartet) and Danielle Howle (singer/songwriter).

This was a fantastic way to enjoy a beautiful day and help support the Historic Columbia Foundation. It was a very family friendly event; I encourage you to try it out next year!
